Greetings, Fernan Clan!
You have no idea how happy and proud I am to know that the Fernan Clan have a website of their own. I don't even know much about my Lolo Ronie's siblings, except my Lolo Junior who I see often when we once lived at Kalayaan, Paranaque, Metro Manila.
My Lolo Ronie is sick now. He had stroke two years ago. He had 2 attacks and now he's bedridden. Your prayers will be highly appreciated. I always prayed that my Lolo Ronie would be back to his jolly old self again just like when I was little.
He would bring me to the movies in Makati and Mandaluyong. His favorite place is Manuela (which is now the Star Mall). He memorized that place like the back of his hand and would know any store in any corner! He would always sleep inside the movie house, thou, but I didn't mind. He's my first best friend and will remain always as my best Lolo. I can never forget his jolly laugh and his big tummy that I always ride on. He also watches cartoons with me and that I really loved and missed about him. He can't understand a word the TV says but he always laugh at the right time and we would laugh together.

New Theme (Look 'n Feel) for the Site
We've found some time to upgrade the look 'n feel of the site; it now looks more pleasing visually. The same facilities remain as we haven't changed much of the actual functionalities of the web site. Let us know how you like thr new theme.

Sentimental over re-visited e-mails
For some reason The Fernan clan website is quiet tonight. No visits, nothing on my Yahoo mail and thank goodness Bong put a stop to the viagra, sedatives and other drugs spam notices on the guestbook. Those notices kept me on my toes and agitated since it appeared four days ago. No new e-mails so I revisited the 1999 e-mails when the Fernan website was created.
Tuesday, 28 March 2000 entry from Cynthia Fernan Taasan,
'Well, I hope this piece of info is going to help you. I'm glad this website has been established so we can track relatives and exchange info. Hopefully we'll get accurate and complete info about the family one of these days. Someone hopefully will be able to remember bits and pieces from what we've been told from childhood and maybe get corroboration from the rest of the family members.'

Poet, singer/songwriter
Pinoy rock musician and poet, Dong Abay considers Bong as one of the best Filipino poets, singer/songwriters of all time:
He wrote these progressive songs during the Martial Law years in the Philippines. He's now based in Darwin, Australia and living as a cultural community development practitioner.
Missing Manila and Cebu.
The Ramilo family is missing family in the Philippines! We have been visiting for the past 3 years in a row, but have, unfortunately, missed this year due to papa's work commitments. We miss the shopping in Tiendesitas, SM, 168 (mama's 'shop till you drop' place.) Cubao and many more. I am very sad because I normally get my new clothes from Tita Mayette del Rosario-Camus, Tita Ling Quisumbing and Tita Jang Cantiller (papa's sisters). When shopping in Manila the choices are infinite, as for Darwin the choices are limited and cost twice as much. My papa mentioned that we might visit by June/July during school break.
I love Cebu even though it is small compared to Manila, it is just as beautiful. Next time, I would love to spend more time there and experience the beautiful beaches.

Upgrading the site
Its been eight years since we launched the Fernan Clan web site. It was my first major web site project and have done a few since then. Three years ago, we decided to upgrade the site to use a content management system (CMS) so that updates and new content can be posted by Diday and other contributors using web forms rather than relying on me or someone else to edit the site directly (by messing around with HTML, etc.). I tried out a few CMS applications and started migrating the content from the old Geocities-based site to a PHPwebsite-based one. I also secured the domain name fernan.info. For several reasons, my work was suspended on migrating the site until December 2007 -- I apologise for the delay. At any rate, by 2007 I decided to use Drupal instead (http://drupal.org) as I have used it on other web sites and found it to be more flexible, powerful, and extensible than other CMS products. This Drupal-based site still needs lots of work -- more recent content needs to be added, a more attractive look-and-feel (theme) is needed, and more contributors are welcome. I hope that more family members collaborate on the new site.

A Fernan in Canada!!!
I absolutely do not know any other Fernan outside my own little twig but thanks to this Website, I can see there are lots! I do not know where to start for introductions but my cybername is edmontonmestiza. As long as you are a Fernan, you are welcome to become a Contact and view my (private to Contacts and friends/relatives I invite only) Multiply website: www.edmontonmestiza.multiply.com That way, you get to know me.
I am an old fart (currently at 52 years of age) residing in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada since 1980. I have only one daughter, Yori, soon to be 24 this year. Apparently, I am the only Fernan in all the phone books of Canada! Being the oldest in my (third) generation, I shall represent our little Fernan branch in this Website for updates.
I enjoyed perusing through the pictures posted and look forward to seeing more, as well as show my pictures too!
